Frequently Asked Questions:

*How old should my puppy be before he gets his first groom?

We recommend that breeds with longer coats should begin the grooming process as soon as their second set of puppy shots have been completed. These breeds include but are not limited to: Poodles, Yorkies, Maltese, Shih Tzus, Havanese, and Cocker Spaniels. We feel it is a good idea to famliarize your puppy with grooming as young as two months old, even if it is for a simple bath. This will help them learn that grooming is a pleasant experience and will enjoy the process as he gets older. We also recommend for owners to touch and play with their puppy's paws at home, so that they are not scared when they get their nails trimmed. We have a special puppy bath/groom package for your puppy that is between 2-4 months old.

*My dog shakes when he enters the grooming salon, does that mean he is scared or doesn't like his groomer?

Not necessarily, he may just be excited from the car ride or not sure if he is going to the vet to get a shot. Much like kids in pre-school, once you are gone, they settle in and get more comfortable. Dogs are very intuitive, as we all know, and will pick up any anxiety that you may be feeling, so it is important to be calm and reassuring. We also like to let the dogs sniff around the salon a bit to familiarize themselves with their environment. Your dog's comfort is very important to us, so we keep a very calm, positive atmosphere to give your dog the best experience possible.

*How long will it take to groom my dog?

The grooming process takes between 2-4 hours to fully prep, wash, dry and groom your dog. The total length of time depends on the breed and cut of your dog, and also his temperment. We only use gentle grooming procedures and so it may take longer if your dog is nervous or not used to the grooming process. We work with your dog to make sure he is having the best experience possible and sometimes that includes going at a little slower pace. Upon Check in, we will give you an approximate time your dog wil be ready fr pick up. We do offer a special express service for parents who do not like to leave their dog for longer than it takes to groom. With this service, we immediately begin working on your dog upon arrival with no interruptions.

*If you would like this service, please let us know when booking your appointment, so that we can schedule it accordingly.

*Can you groom my very large dog?

Yes, we are equipped with state of the art equipment that can easily accomodate the largest dog!

*My dog is matted but I want to keep his hair long. Is this possible?

When your dog comes in for his appointment, we will be able to see the degree of matting and if we feel we will be able to demat without causing pain or discomfort to your dog. We always try our best to keep your dog's hair long, if that is your preference, and will discuss with you any options we may have to take if the matting is too severe. Rest assure that we are stylists and will make your dog look its' best even if we do have to cute his hair shorter. To prevent matting, we highly recommend that you brush your dog at least 2-3 times a week or more, if he has long hair. This will not only prevent matting but will also help your dog to learn to like the grooming process.

*I want my dog to have a puppy cut, can you do that?

In the grooming world, "puppy cut" can mean many different things. For us, it basically means that you want your dog to look like it did when it was a puppy, which is different depending on breed. We can achieve the puppy cut you are looking for and will discuss with you the specifications upon check in.
